Machine Guarding Course:

Victims being pinned in, or caught in between mechanical gears is the primary cause of accidents and deaths in the workplace. Proper machine guarding is a necessity. This course will teach the student what the general requirements for proper guarding are, the differences between a guard and a device and examples of each, and commonly used guarding requirements for woodworking and machinery, abrasive wheels, mechanical power presses and forging machines. The required amount of time to complete the course is dependent upon your knowledge of workplace safety, but we find that the average completion time is approximately 8 hours. You have up to six months to complete the course.

Online Exams:

The student will take a comprehensive online exam at the end of the course. You must score 80% to receive certification. You have three opportunities to pass the exam.

Recertification:

A refresher course and exam will be required every three (3) years. The cost of this recertification is $95.

Optional Credits:

Through the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, 0.8 CEUs are offered for this course.
